The Bible says
The most important issue in life is to be in a right relationship
with our Creator, the living God. It is more important than family,
friends, work or leisure. It will determine how we live this
life and where we will spend the next. God has spoken to us
through His Word, the Bible.
The Bible tells us what God is like: God is
great, He is the maker and sustainer of the cosmos. God is
wonderful, glorious and full of majesty. He acts with perfect
justice and righteousness. God is good to all. God is love.
The Bible tells us what we are like: "All
have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." and "All we like sheep
have gone astray." In other words we have all walked-out on
God. The Bible puts it like this: "We all, like sheep, have
gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way." We are
therfore hostile to God and live to please ourselves. Because
of this, none of us will be able to prove our innocence on judgement
day. Many of us know this to be true.
We have done wrong and deserve to be punished.
The Bible brings us the good news: God in
his great love has made a way back to Himself through His Son Jesus
Christ. "For God so loved the world that He gave His only
begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but
have everlasting life." Jesus went to a cross where the sins
of men and women, boys and girls were put to his account. So
when God came to punish the guilty, Jesus took the blame. "For
Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He
might bring us to God." Therefore the good news is that
through Jesus death on the cross, condemmed sinners, like you and
me, can enjoy peace with God
The Bible calls us to make a personal response:
This Gospel of Jesus Christ comes to me as a
friend to be welcomed and believed. I must finish with going my own
way - I must repent. I must come to Jesus Christ and go His way - I
must believe. God has promised to all who repent and believe,
the forgiveness of their wrongs, a new life and the assurance of
Heaven.
"For the wages of sin
is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our
Lord." (Romans 6: 23) |
