Christian testimonies

Malcolm
I was blessed by being born into a Christian home. Every week I heard the Gospel and never doubted that the Bible was the Word of Almighty God. When I was 11 my Sunday School teacher made me realise believing was not enough, I had to personally repent of my sin and ask the Lord Jesus to be my personal Saviour, so I did. My parents were thrilled and so too were many Christian friends and family.

I left school at 15 and went to work for a well-known Liverpool firm of organ-makers, this meant I travelled all over Britain working on organs in churches, chapels, cathedrals and colleges. At weekends I would always look for an Evangelical Church to attend.

Life was going along very well, until at the age of 20 I received a letter telling me to report for a medical examination to see if I was fit enough to do my national service. Apparently I was so and I was sent off to Aldershot to do my training.

I remember vividly the morning I made my way to Lime Street Station to catch a London train, my father told me to make a stand for the Lord the first day as it would get more difficult as the days would go by. Being in a crowd of 240 lads I failed, nobody knew that I was a Christian.

A few months later I was posted to Dusseldorf as a driver in the RASC. I had been there about 9 months when a German lad came looking for me, he was writing to a young lady in LIverpool who told him that I was in his home town and since I was a Christian I would welcome his company. His English was excellent, which suited me since my German was non-existent. I have often thought about this time in my life as I had by then turned my back on the Lord but He didn't turn His back on me.

"The Lord says, I will never leave you nor forsake you!
                                                                               Hebrews 13:5

A few years after my demob I met my wife Janet. In 1970 our son was born and we settled happily at Aughton Park Baptist Church not far from our home. There have been many trials, such as major heart surgery but I have proved the Lord to be faithful to HIs word, I have failed Him, but He has never failed me.

I praise Him now and will for the rest of my life and for eternity.
